Course Policies:

The following are intended to:

Assignments
:

  1. Assignments are due at the end of class, on the due date.  Work in my hands during the appropriate class or under the office door and in my hands (C415) before marking is completed will be accepted.  Work submitted as an e-mail attachment, left in the "return" trays, or submitted using Blackboard, etc. will not be accepted.  Please note, material is usually marked within two days.  Also, see the "Stress Reducer" comment below.
  2. Assignments will be marked as handed in.  If the wrong material is submitted or a floppy disk does not work, a mark of "0" will be assigned.  It is your responsibility to hand in material that can be marked.  If my instructions on what to hand in are unclear, tell me about it; I will certainly make an adjustment.
  3. Marks will be docked for wrong material, old material, or material that was not requested, material handed in but not in the specified order, files with incorrect names or in the wrong folder, assignment names not on the sheets, etc.

Quizzes:

Minor Quizzes must be written during the class time set aside for them; however, by prior agreement you may be able to write a minor quiz early--if it is available.  Missed quizzes are marked as a "0".  However, see the "Stress Reducer" comment below.

Stress Reducers:

  1. Up to 2 of your lowest chapter marks will be replaced by your final exam, based on the following:
  1. A missed midterm will be added to the final exam.

Note:  this in no way takes away from the departments right to bar an individual from the final exam due to poor attendance.  That is a separate issue.

Early Assignments and Attendance:

  1. Handing in assignments early is encouraged--when they are handed in after the previous unit's work has been marked and returned.
  2. When handing in assignments early, hand them directly to me, during class, when the class is quiet and when I am at the podium.  Tell me what you are doing and wait until the attendance sheet is marked for any future classes that are reserved for this assignment.  This is your responsibility--if you want the following benefit.
